Social Security Benefit Estimator

This month the Social Security Department introduced a new “retirement estimator” on their website at socialsecurity.gov. Getting a personalized online estimate of your benefits is now easier than ever before.

The online retirement estimator is a convenient, secure and quick tool that lets one calculate how much they might expect to receive in Social Security benefits when they retire. The cool feature of this calculator is that it eliminates the need to manually type in years of earnings information.

To use it, just go to www.socialsecurity.gov/estimator. To get an estimate, you will need to enter your first and last name, date of birth, SS number, mother’s maiden name and place of birth. If the information matches their records, then you can enter an expected retirement age and future wages. The estimator combines this information with the information they have on file, to provide a quick and reliable online benefit estimate.

How To Report Spam Email

If you are receiving a lot of unwanted email, you CAN take action.

Nothing can be done about spammers if their activities are not reported. If you report a spammer’s activities to the proper authorities, there is a chance that a spammer’s account will be closed. You will also be helping other people who get spammy emails form the same person or persons.

The FTC (Federal Trade Commision) needs your help in identifying spammers’ accounts and any “unsubscribe links” that are deceptive. Send copies of your unwanted emails with those deceptive unsubscribe links to spam@uce.gov. make sure you include the header information in the email that you send. To fill out a complaint form, go to www.ftc.gov/spam.

You can also report unwanted emails or deceptive emails to either your or the spammer’s internet service provider (ISP).

The .mobi Domain Name Extension

I wrote this a long time ago on another one of my blogs, but wanted to put it here as well. If you have not heard, there is a new domain extension .mobi. If you are not familiar with what I mean by ‘domain extension’, it is simple. The .mobi domain extension is in the same realm as .com, .net, .org, .biz, .info etc. Obviously you are familiar with a few of these, or you would not be reading this post ;0).

At any rate, here is the excerpt about .mobi and it’s future growth and development possibility:

Is it me, or is it Hard to Find a Wii?

Is it me, or is it extremely hard to find a Wii?

Wii, I mean WE, have been looking to pick up a Nintendo Wii game console before the holidays. I have heard and seen all the buzz about this fantastic gaming console.

After seeing it and using it for a little, at a friend’s house, I have decided that I just have to have one!

It really is nothing like I have ever seen before. I must say, that after an hour of rigorous playing on the Wii, I was in a sweat, and was huffin and puffing. Imagine that, fun AND exercise. Whoever heard of such an insane idea?

At any rate, most of the stores seem to be out, and Ebay seems to be the best bet. They have been running $400-700 depending on accessories.

For all U.S. donors who participate in the Give One Get One program, T-Mobile is offering one year of complimentary HotSpot access.

It’s called “Give One Get One” and it costs $399, which will be good until Dec 31st. The XO laptops are  laptops designed for education and connecting kids in developing countries who have never worked with a computer before.

The energy-efficient computers have hi-res screens, cameras, and p2p wireless communication capabilities built in. They run on free open source software with 1GB flash memory and a low power processor so it can be easily maintained. This unique laptop can be powered by solar energy, a foot pump, or  pull-string powered chargers!

Is the Domain Name Jer.net for Sale?

I have receieved a lot of inquiries lately about jer.net, asking if it is for sale. I actually made the mistake of selling it about a year ago, but was then fortunate enough to buy it back again. I have to say it is for keeps this time, unless of course, a really nice offer comes my way.

I have been buying and selling domain names for quite some time, and I really enjoy doing it. The highest offer to date is $3500, which I refused.

Yeah, I know it is a good price for the domain, but I also know the value of three letter domains is on the rise. Besides, this one has a personal value to me, as it is my nickname.

So for now, keep stopping by because Jer.net will be here for a while ;0)
